The tides in the area change quickly, and have been described by Victor Hugo as "à la vitesse d'un cheval au galop" or "as swiftly as a galloping horse". The mount can still be treacherous for
visitors who avoid the causeway and attempt the hazardous walk across
the sands from the neighbouring coast.
Redon-This small town ,twinned with Andover,England,is situated at the juncture of the Oust and Vilaine rivers, which makes it well known for its autumn and winter floods.Very little information exists about this area prior to 832, however
it would seem that there was a parish by the name of Riedones which
gave the town its name. The harbour with its fine town houses of 17th and 18th century ship owners is connected to the canal system.Picture courtesy of Wikipedia.
